This is 2015 and we still don't have a solution for long battery life! It means we have to charge Our Phone almost everyday and and most of the time.

But when we go for camping or for adventure trips we obviously need our phone battery to last longer. Longer enough to help us find help in any case of emergency, So it is important that we know what helps our phone battery to last longer.

I don't say that these tips will keep your phone alive for a week or two without charging but it will definitely help you extend you battery life for at least +10 hours.

That really makes a difference!!

Before you read further you must know that

1- Turning off or Turning on your phone takes more battery as compare to sleep mode so AVOID switching off your phone while running low on battery.

2- If you are playing some heavy games then you must keep it cool by stop playing when you feel that it is too hot. At high temperatures battery drains faster than normal. You may notice that in winters your phones remains longer than in summers.

Follow these tips and I am sure that your battery will last longer than before.

1 Charge your phone in a healthy way

When it comes to a battery it is important to charge it complete. Using the specific voltage and current charger which are provided by the company of which brand you are using.

Like if you are using iPhone then it is recommended to use iPhone branded charger, local chargers may hurt your battery.

Local made chargers are fast chargers, whereas branded chargers are slow chargers, Actually low ampere charger can take more time to charge your phone but this kind of charging is more stable than that of higher ampere charger.

Also slightly high voltage chargers actually reduces the life time of your phone`s battery.

Don't keep your phone connected to charger all the time charge only when your phone has low battery and remove charger when your phone is fully charged. Using phone on low battery like below 20% also decrease battery life.

2 Turn off WiFi and Mobile-data when not in use

WiFi is just like another high energy consuming appliance in your home. When it is turned on it expands your energy bill.

So when not in use it should be turned off. through many calculations when your phone is at sleep while WiFi is on consumes battery as I was using my phone continuously without WiFi.

To test yourself ,turn on your WiFi and let your phone on sleep for next three hours. Now check your battery usage in settings it would tell you about battery consumption percentage.

3 Shorten the sleep time

By default the sleep time of a smart phone is about 1 minute. But that makes a great effect on battery consumption. You actually want to keep the settings to very low battery consumption.

So go to settings>display>sleep  and shorten the sleep time as short as you want, shorter the sleep time better your battery will perform.

Also you should attain the habit of switching your phone to sleep mode by pressing that specific button. This will really help you maintain your battery life for longer use.

.
4 Dim the screen brightness

Some people might not like dim lightening in there phone but when it comes to saving the battery one should reduce the brightness to minimum settings.

This setting can also be change to auto mode in some smart phones which have lunatic sensors it them. It will dim the screen brightness to a level which is comfortable to read according to the surroundings. This setting does help when you are moving out.

SO go to settings>display>brightness>adjust brightness level

Personally I reduce my phone brightness to minimum when I am at home.I occasionally check my battery usage where I always find my phone screen using most of the battery.

5 Close the unnecessary apps

While using your phone you always do a thing which is very battery consuming and can reduce your phone`s overall performance. that is opening alot of apps and let them running in background.

Actually all app you have opened are still working and using your phone`s ram which is not only slowing your phone but also burning alot of energy which ultimately reducing your phone`s battery life and your battery starts draining fast.

6 Make sure the GPS is turned off

when you want your battery to last longer you never want to spend battery to apps which you are not even using. When you don't need to find your location just turn your GPS down because is uses battery almost equal to Wifi.

Settigns>Location Services

7 Don't Use Vibrate Mode ( it consumes more power than ring mode)

Have you ever thought how your phone vibrates??

Actually there is a very small motor having one sided weight on its shaft when current starts this motor this shaft rotates, having one sided weight your phone starts to vibrate.

So as often your phone vibrates you are providing current from your battery which simply consumes more of your battery.

Avoid using vibration mode. Some smart phone also vibrates when your even touch their screen which I think is very unnecessary.

Setting>sounds

8 Use Dark wallpaper

This sounds weird but it is true that dark wallpaper of your phones consumes less energy than that of having bright colors and deep background.

Actually your wallpaper is a mixture of colors which will use brightness and consume more energy. On the other hand a dark wallpaper has extra dim lightening and when it combines with your dim screen brightness it simply reduces battery usage.

To prove this simply take a picture in a very dark place and make it your wallpaper and than check your battery consumption percentage in settings.

9 Use headphones instead of speakers

In some smartphones there is a large speaker which on use takes a lot of energy. Here it is important to know that when we increase the sound we actually increase the voltage supplied to the speaker.

And when we plug headphones in we actually change the voltage supplying mode, as headphones require low energy compare to the speaker of our phone. This ultimately decreases the battery consumption.

All the headphones might not be using low energy. You can experiment by your own, you just need to let your phone play music in maximum sound for specific time and then by plugging in for that specific time. You will know it by yourself

10 Always clear the notifications at 1st place

When a notification shows up from any app it actually run whole app for no reason. And you can imagine how many notifications from different app does show up all the day.

If you are willing to conserve the battery than you have to clear the notification on first place.

Talking personally my phone always remains in my hand and I am too lazy to see notification by opening every app so notification bar is cool thing but just need to clear notification every time.

11 Mobile data consumes more energy compared WiFi especially if are using 3G or 4G

Okay that is what you should know that 4G and 3G takes more energy as compare to Wifi. So if  you want to save battery prefer wifi over mobile data.

12 Disable the unwanted apps i.e stock apps

What is most important for you is to disable the app you actually never use. These apps are provided by the manufacturer and you cant uninstall them.

Like your camera app. If you have a good 3rd party camera app then you never use your default app then you should simply disable default app.

You can always enable them back and they will work as they were before, but by disabling them the huge difference will be made in battery performance.

13 Don't leave apps running in background ( Force stop them Settings>Apps> )

As I have told you before that background apps consumes battery and you have to stop them. But there are some app which starts automatically and remain in running state all the time even when you stop them.

So go to settings>apps>All Apps> click the app and and force stop them. This will not let the app to run until you start the app by yourself or restart your phone.

14 Use good WiFi signal strength, low signal will reduce battery life. Because phone will have to use more power to use weak signals.

It is very important that you use good signal WiFi because phone has to boost the signals when they are weak and that takes a lot of battery. This is why there is always an option to dismiss low signal wifi in your mobile's wifi settings.

15 Use an app for battery monitoring

There are A Lot of apps to monitor your battery. these app are very easy to handle and are free.

What these apps do?  They actually forcely stop your apps which you are not using and also clear cache. These apps also claims for longer life of your battery. I dont think that these apps will increase  battery life but it will save the battery from wasting on apps we are not using.
